In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. (Genesis 1:1-3)

God began everything with His word. He gave His words to mankind, and men received these words and wrote them down. So the Bible says, "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost"
(2 Peter 1:20-21). As you read through the Old Testament, you will find many phrases such as,
Thus saith the Lord...
The word of the Lord came unto me, saying...
Moreover the Lord said unto me...
They were making the point very clear that these were not their own words, but the words of God. This is how the Bible was completed. It is through the Bible that man and God can continue to converse with one another.
Other doctrines have now penetrated deep into Christianity, degrading the value of the Bible. Even so, it is because God is alive and the words of the Bible have remained alive throughout history that we find God and believe in Him.
